I just got a phone call from Rebecca! I was the fitst she was able to contact. She had to go up to munro area to get service.
She reports that no one has been killed in the TB area!!! No mention of any one injured either!
However, there are other reports of a drowning in Great Bay Also, she heard that 20 fishermen stayed on the Keys and no word from them. Also, Some fishermen in Black river anchored out to sea and no word from them either.
Rebecca is shaken up but is OK.
There is massive damage though...
Most roofs on houses are gone, including hers.
Most trees have been knocked down, including lignum vitaes! For the trees that are standing ,therre are no leaves on the branches
There is water from the sea at Woddy's Shop at the end of fisherman's lane!
Sea water went through Golden Sands to the Cashah tree
If you want to send aid, send it to the US Embassy or to the Peace Corps. I will get addresses after posting this initial report.
If you want to send something to an indicudual, send it to the person care of rebecca Wiersma
Miss Ruby lost half of her roof but is OK.
More very soon!
Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers. We still have to rebuild, but worst is over!
Thankyou so much for putting our minds at rest...thank God everyone is ok and there are no reported injuries.
Please let us know what we can do...even though we are thousands of miles away in England we will do whatever we are able.
Best wishes to everyone...what a massive relief.
Love Barbara and Steve xx
How is Mandeville?
Any word from Southfield, Top Hill, Junction, and those areas? Haven't been able to hear from them by phone. Thanks
Rebecca wanted to make it clear that while the area is devastated, the people are in good spirits, hugging each others, helping each other, and talking about how to rebuild already.
She was shocked to hear of the reports of looting around the country as there has been NONE of that in TB.
She has only been able to get to Calabash and Frenchmans's Bay and up through southfield to munro area.
She hasn't been to Great bay, Billy's Bay, or Fort Charles or beyond.
Some messages she wants to get out:
-Guilty's house has been destroyed
-Miss Ruby's house has lost half its roof, but she and Cida (sp?) are safe
-Miss Clem's house is OK, no flooding or other damage.
-The Treasure Beach Womens' Group's building has been destroyed.
The immediate need is for money, then food. She and Jason are meeting soon to talk about how TBNet and Breds can start to get relief supplies/money down there. More soon.
Thanks so much!!
I've been sick over this...
If you speak to Rebecca again, give her my best.
To Rebecca from Mom & Dad
Just so glad you are okay. Prayers have been answered. Love you very much!
I too want to here about Southfield, Top Hill, Junction, and those areas? Most of my family is there. Please let me know.

Is there any news of Southfield? Has anyone heard from Micheal or Denny Soares of the Soares Bakery? Any news about Carla Parchment and her family? Those are my father, brother, and cousin. Also any news about anyone in Southfield at all would be appreciated. I got through this morning to Mandeville and there is a lot of roof damage and homes being flooded. I have been trying to get through again, but can't. Also has anyone heard from Ms. Carrie Forrest and her family in particular, we are hearing here that Mas Johnny, her husband is missing. Her son Doane was my brother-in-law and we are very worried about all of St. Elizabeth and the people there. Please is any news please email me at Soareslong@aol.com. Thank you and please everyone stay safe. We are praying for you all.
Iam barbary hall . Could u please inform me about those that are missing.
Message from all at Bubala's in Provincetown: everyone wanting to know how it goes with all their families: Anthony, Demaine, Speyer and Robin, Jenny, Romaine, Omar, Oneil, Rayon, Joseph and Paula, Winsome and Mark, etc? anyone out there, please repond, thanks Tom C from Bubalas
Now that I've made a few phone calls on Rebecca's behalf and have had time to take a deep breathe, here's more on what she's reported.
She rode out the storm with her good friends Esther, Lisa and Joslyn from Calabash House along with a whole heap of dogs and cats in her house. They remained safe through out the storm, even though her concrete house was shaking during the worst of it. She told the joke that the only thing louder than the sound of the hurricane was Lisa's snoring (sorry Lisa :-). At least someone was able to sleep through it!
She's got standing water in her house and the water heater is broken, which may be the reason for the water in the house. Its unclear. The roof is gone, as are most of the roofs in the area.
She is safe and will be staying with Lisa in her wood board house that is was not damaged. I lived in that house for a few months and while I know its incredibly well constructed, it amazes me that its still standing. To the builder (German Mark, I think, good job!)
It is still raining down there, and she was very happy to hear that Ivan is moving away which should give them some better weather.
More damage reports:
Calabash House is destroyed
Miss Mary of Ital Rest/Vikings is OK as is everyone else there. But the roof of her house is gone.
Mar Blue fared very well, and the guests have moved back in (what a vacation!)
Villa JaJa has some water in it, but is still standing and seems to have fared pretty good as well.
Cacona Beach Cottage has flooding damage (I think she said 6 feet of water) and the sand berm by the sea has 10 vertical feet gone.
She is only able to get a cell signal by Munro area. She said the road is passable but pretty mashed up. She saw a gas station open (at Corssroads?) and assumes they have gas.
She had not heard anything from the rest of the island and didn't even know where they eye had passed. They are only able to get one radio station out of Sav-la-mar and says it doesn't have much news. I'm trying to keep her posted on what I know. She was happy to hear the storm is moving away
The area does not have current (electricity) or land lines, so she is not able to check this web site, so she can't see any messages left for her. When I speak to her, I will relay them.
She is able to charge her cell phone from her bus and thinks she has enough phone cards to hold out. When I hear more, I'll post it here immediately.
She also wanted me to tell everyone how much the people of TB are thankful for your prayers and messages of hope.
Everyone she's seen in the area has come up and given her a hug and asked how to help. They are walking around and grateful to be alive and are laughing at times about the situation.
In fact as she and Darin James were talking, a group of men walked by in the distance. When Darin waved to them to say Hi, they came running over because they thought Darin was calling them to help her.
Positive vibes, Positive Treasure Beach!

Ya Mon! Right on! Have been on this internet constantly since Saturday morning. So has Eric, fantastic job! Thank you Eric, from the bottom of our hearts!!
Someone up there has answered ALL the prayers, and there were many!!
I read somewhere that the man who drowned was trying to save his boat. Not sure where I read this, as I've been to every website all last night and this morning, so has been kind of a weary start to the day. Anyway, time to rebuild, as long as we have each other, everything is going to be OK. We'll be there in February, wish we could be there now . . . . . . . . . .
We Love Treasure Beach, and take good care of each other!!
Thank you for the report on Treasure Beach. Can someone PLEASE check on Celeste and David at Siwind. I have been trying to reach them but I can get though to them. Please post a message about Siwind, Ms. Avril, Lucia & Ms. Imogene & Family down in that lane. We have been really worried about mudsides from the hill behind their houses.
Thank you and we will keep Treasure Beach in our prayers and send money and supplies ASAP.
Dee Dee Murray - Atlanta GA
Hallo jamaica ( Treasure Beach)
It is a reliefe to hear that there are no casualities in the TB area.
Thank you Rebecca to keep us updated,we really appreciate it,as we are so far away and no news because the phones are down.
We hope everyone is fine down there.
Our only source of information is TB.net
Thanks again Rebecca,
Ralf and Merline as well Paula and Andy in Germany

But thank God your lives are spared.
please let us know whats going on in billy's bay we are very worried and havent herd anything from them.
Any word would be appreciated, Thank you.
Ellonia and Tony Ebanks.
Glad to hear that the resident of TB are in good spirit. Glad there are no deaths. However, how are the Swabys doing and the James family near Tabernacle church.
I need to hear if there was ant damages at Little Park and Cross Roads (Pedro Cross) Beacon
cant get any call through to down there and thats where my family is.
If anyone hears anything about the people in Billy's Bay, PLEASE let me know.
Eric, when you next speak to Rebecca, please give her my love. She is an amazingly strong woman, and a great member of the community. We are all grateful -- and proud -- to have her there. I have been speaking to her Mom in Florida over the past few days, and we've been doing our best to convey any news to each other.
And, Eric, thank you for all you are doing to keep this site up-to-date. Scores of people are counting on you for news.
Rebecca, thank you for providing us with all this helpful information. It has helped to put many minds at ease. I would like to find out how my family in Great Bay is. My sister Ann Forrest and her family, my grandmother-in-law Beulah Clarke (the twins, Ryan and Deron's grandmother), Ruby Parchment, Zane Ebanks and the Rochester Family (Marie, Kareen, Stacey and Neville). Many of us here in Florida have lots of family in Great Bay and are anxious to know they are well. Thanks again for going above and beyond as you always do. Keep your spirits high.
Any word on how Jake's is????
A previously mentioned by tom from Bubala's, all the staff here from the TB area are anxiously awaiting news of their families, since few have been able to get through by phone. We are all so glad to hear that most of you were spared the worst. How did Jakes,Jack Sprats and the surrounding cottages make out? All of us in Ptown are thinking about you
Rebecca mentioned that the new cottages by the sea at Jakes did not do well, but gave no more details.
Any word on the whereabouts of Joslyn Byfield, and Dawn and her family?
Rebecca, so glad to hear you are safe and well! As well as all the other residents of Treasure Beach! So very sorry to hear about the damage to your home and all the damage to the homes and businesses in Treasure Beach. We continue to think of you all and will keep you in our prayers.
So glad to hear news from TB finally! Many thanks to Rebecca and Eric, without you I would certainly have had another sleepless night...
Oh, Joslyn, I'm so glad your safe!!!I didn't realize that you were with Rebecca until I read further. There are so many posts on here! What about Dawn and her family?
I want to add my thanks for the info from Rebecca. I have been so worried. It's so hard to be so far away and out of touch. The news on CNN has shown some flim from Jamaica but no ID of where it was filmed.
It's miraculous that the eye of Ivan didn't actually come onto the island! There really was someone looking out for the people of Jamaica!
We again want to send our prayers and let Rebecca and all in TB know how glad we are that all are are alive. Let's all pray for the fishermen, too. Miracles do happen!
We want to know how Lancel and Polly held out and what shape Lyric are in. Please ask Rebecca to ask them both what we can send them to help!
Margie & Don
Rebecca, God bless you and Eric for so dilgently keeping us informed.
I know that you are busy, but I just wanted Zebedee and Kareen to know that Karen in the US is thankful that they and Treasure Beach are safe. If they need anything can you let me know via email?

Best of luck to eveyone in Negril!
Thank you for putting our minds at ease. I have been watching the news and on the phone steady with my sisters-in-law, Pat(Miami) and Miriam(Brooklyn)as well as friends, wondering if anyone has heard news from Treasure Beach. Just by reading your report, I now know that my husband, Oriel Hill a.k.a "Tojo" is going to be O.K. Blowing you a kiss from across the sea. God bless all of you!
Hi. We are trying very hard to find out about Millie J. from Villa Arcadia, and her girls. So far there is no news anywhere from that area. Thank you all very much.
Hi Rebecca and Eric,
Thank you both for all your efforts in keeping us on the Mainland...Los Angeles...informed. I am very concerned for my sister, Celeste and David Anderson at Siwind Villa. Please let us know if you hear of any word at all from them and their safety. I sent a long message, but don't know if it got through. I know GOD has answered all our prayers to keep you safe and bypass Treasure Beach...and all of Jamaica. Please let us know too of Ms. Avril and her family...in this difficult time they're having with the loss of her father this past week. Keep up the constant vigilance and your strength...and give a big hug to Celeste and David when you see them. Let them know that we're still praying and waiting to hear what we can do here to help. We love Treasure Beach and all the folks there. GOD BLESS YOU ALL and keep the faith.
There is information about Negril at www.miyard.com - A few reports have been posted.

Special greetings from London, and more power to your elbow in the grand work of keeping us all informed about the state of play in your part of Jamaica. Shows the power of prayer and the internet, because I am sure we are all glad, even if the news does not include our family or area, to share the typical Jamaica contact in the face of adversity.
God Bless...peace and love
The Burke house in Malvern lost the roof, but everybody well after relocating downstairs.

Sending our love, and may God bless you all!
Is there any news of the Blair's in Sandy Bank beside the basic school.
Please let me know if they are ok.
How did Jake's standup to Ivan?
Just got off the phone with my husband Tojo Hill:
Jake's doesn't look the same. The sea broke the door in Mussles guest cottage in two pieces. Several verandahs on the guesty cottages are gone. The sea was breaking over the swimming pool. The sea took the doors off the front and back of the guest cottages and threw them near the road. Jack Sprat is damaged but they plan to rebuild starting tomorrow. The sea was hitting the back of the car wash located beside the entry to Jack Sprat.
Treasure Beach does not look the same so hold tight to any good memories you had of the landscape.
80% of the people have lost their roof. You could have surfed on the sea right at Irie Vibes. There are no fruit or leaves on the trees. Several trees are fallen across the road. Lots fo tlight poles are down. They have no light, no water...but just got back telephone. The roads are not badly damaged and they did not get as 1/2 as much rain as they did in hurricane Charley so the roads are not flooded. They are still having rain though.
Golden Sands has 2 guest houses that are mashed up. Winford's roof is gone. Half of Sparling Waters is gone.
Two houses came down in Billy's Bay (older homes). 2 board houses in Bluntas overturned.
Hikaru is safe (Don, Noel and the guests there are all safe).
Dawn is O.K. Calabash House lost its roof.
Celeste and David at Siwind are O.K. No mudslides there to report at all.
Denny Soares of the Soares Bakery lost part of his roof but he is o.k.
In response to Cherry B.'s posting....lots of roofs on houses are gone in Lewis Town, but your family is o.k.
All of this news comes from Tojo Hill who called me in Canada at 7:30 p.m. Sincerely, Allison
Thank you for all of the updates. All of us here in the U.S. feel very helpless. But our thoughts and prayers are with all of Jamaica!

i have a ticket down for Sept. 21 and still plan on coming.
question: what would be the most useful thing for me to bring down from the states?
i'm prepared to try for anything i can carry.
and hope to help out with anything i can when i get there.
we're scheduled to come to jakes on sept 16th? is that even thinkable now? if so, are the roads from MO Bay passable? what should we bring to help???
To Lucy and everyone who wants to go to Jamaica at this time:
As Rebecca told me when I said I'm ready to go down there to help, with all the houses that have been damaged and the supplies that will be dwindling, they can't take care of themselves right now, let alone visitors.
My advice is to donate money/goods when appropriate, and wait to go down there until there is a system in place to handle visitors/aid workers.
As for donating, there are links to several here and in other messages on this site.
We'll be working with Breds to create a plan for direct donations to TB in the near future.
Stay tuned and thanks to eveyone for your offeres of help.
A blessing that all seem to have made it through. People are more important than belongings. Concerned about the food and water situation and look forward to hearing how we might help. Glad to hear Mar Blue made it out pretty well but have not heard about SPARKLING WATERS and the GANG so are a little concerned. We'll have lots of work to do when we get there in October!! LOVE and PRAYERS to all. Susan & David
Hello everybody. I'm glad you are all safe. I am hoping for info about damages in Big Ground and Lewis Town. How are Doewn and Dennis Abraham's family, Barris and Darica Taylor and Miss Sheila Hamilton and family? Did Diners Delite survive? Morris in Q-en You rock. Keep up the good work. Skip and Janice
My mind is at ease tonight...Thank God for TB.net with out this website we would have no idea about the state of things in St Elizabeth. Thank God for also spearing Jamaica a direct hit. I need to know about the situation in Great Bay...Has any heard any news from Margaret Deleon, Wayne (Bongo), Simone, Donovan Deleon? My Aunt Doris Richie? Any new from Great Bay would be helpful. Lets keep this positive vibes going. Kingston would do well to learn a lesson from the folks in TB. God bless you all.
Thank you all for the posts and updates. I have been glued to the tv for weather updates and they only show scenes from Kingston. My daughter goes to school in TB and I am glad to hear that the community has come together to check on each other and that there was not major damage or lives lost.
TB has been the one place in the world that I have ever felt real peace. I look forward to coming back soon and look forward to helping however the Lord allows me to.
God bless everyone in TB.
Elsewhere on the board there are reports that either the roof is missing at Sparkling Waters or one of the waterside villas "fell into the sea".
I assume PEOPLE are OK there, only heard of property damage.
I wonder too, as we are to go there in 2 weeks, guess we'll find out more soon.
Thank God this storm seems to have spared lives.
Rebecca, you are a wonderful person. Do you have any news about Polly and Lancel? people first but is Lyric still there. I know you can't possibly answer all these messages, but your info is amazing. T.Beach seems to have got the worst battering. My love and prayers to all.
Thanks a million for the news. Rebecca, Joslyn & Dawn, we are especially glad to hear you are safe. We have so many requests: St. Peter's Church, The Tullochs, Henrys, Blairs, Ebanks, and on and on. Give them all our love. What about the Diabetic Clinic at Pedro Plains? Our love to Miss Ruby.
Do you have anymore news regarding Black River, Barbary Hall or any of the other Anglican or Methodist Churches in St. Elizabeth?
We are so sorry to hear about Calabash House. Will communicate later about it.
I was scheduled to arrive in Jamaica, Sept. 15, but have cancelled based on probably no roads and being more in the way than a help. I don't even know if the flight will be going.
If anyone has contact with Black River, please let Mrs. Joyce Frances, Allison & David Morris, and Father & Mrs. Wint know that we have written.
Love and prayers to you all.
tom & Mary Ellen and all of the rest of our Indiana Team

This will make the rebuilding of St. Bess much easier. Please stay safe and look out for each other. To TBnet and Rebecca, thank you for helping to get information to all of us who are abroad. You are a blessing to us all.

My aunt in Flagaman said like every where else, lots of house are missing there roofs but everyone is ok and they hope to have the land lines back up as soon as Tuesday. There was more wind than rain this time around, so there isnt alot of flooding, will post any thing else as soon as i know more.
Tojo called Canada again at 11:00 p.m. via (Cable and Wireless) and said that: Gillian's house in Great Bay is gone, Miss Ketty's housetop is gone, just a few people still have a roof over their heads. Lots of houses in Southfield are without roofs. Alfred James' house in Sandy Bank is o.k. but Alvin's roof is gone. Tojo's been helping people from morning till night and sounds exhausted. I conveyed all the well wishes and messages from his friends and family. He wants people to know that everyone in the community is alright and doing what they can to help each other. They are just dealing with a lot of damage to houses, etc.
Thanks for the update Allison (and everyone else).
Tell Tojo hi from me and tell him I'm buying next time we meet.
Thank you for the only link that I have been able to find with info on Treasure Beach.
We give all praises to God for his mercy on Jamaica. You are such a Blessing to us in TB and beyond.
Please help me to get some information on Rockvilla and Crystalei Manor, The Gayle, and James Family across from the Assembly of God Church.(Taba Church)God Bless everyone in TB.
Thank you in advance.
One last tidbit from Rebecca's phone call today...when I jokingly asked how many of the 4 vodka bottles were still full from Thursday, she said they hadn't opened even one because things had been so intense and scary.
But she thought that tonight she'd be able to relax enough to sit down and have a V&T with her friends.
You deserve it, partner. So glad you made it through OK. Can't wai to hear what tomorrow has to bring.
Love and Respect,
WOW! I thought when I left Jamaica back in June, I would not witness the support and love of human beings toward each other, like I did then, until next visit. Thanks to TBNet and everyone's posts here, it's comforting to know that special Jamaican vibe is still going...around the world at that! I am truely thankful for God's graces that so many lives were spared. Good luck to the people of Jamaica as they rebuild their gracious homes and thanks to everyone here that keep us all informed. Neither wind nor rain can wash away the heart of Jamaica!
Almost forgot (was so inspired after reading all the posts!) Any word on The Buccaneer Villa? How are Susie, Garfield, Siebert, Gloria? Any info is much appreciated.

Does anyone have news of leaford trenchfield or bernice, carlton and paul campbell at crossroads? they live next door to each other across from the gas station and slightly up the hill towards flagaman.
Thank you so much for the information that is on this website.
My father, Leaford Trenchfield, lives very near to the petrol (gas) station at Pedro Cross (Crossroads) on the road that goes up to Southfield, so Rebecca must have driven past his house. I would love to hear any news of him, we last spoke to him on Friday and have not been able to get through since then. We have been praying since last week for the people in Jamaica and are continuing to do so.
Has anyone else been able to get power 106 streaming on the internet since Saturday night. I have not been able to and was wondering if it was just me and my machine, or are they down.
Please advise, if you have other suggestions for Jamaican radio stations that stream over the internet, that would be great.
Old Wharf/Treasure Beach:
Rhema, Jonathan, Preacher at MAR BLUE all-ok/ditto all buildings with only 5 roof tiles off/even the thatch hut survived.
Thank you Rebecca and Eric for all the critical updates. It's difficult being so far away from all the people you've grown to love and worrying how everyone is holding up in the storm. It's devastating to hear all the reports of damage in the area, but comforting to learn that noone was hurt.
Please send my love to Miss Ruby, who just had a birthday.
I'm looking into creative ways to get money to Treasure Beach. I'd love to help Miss Ruby build back her roof!
Stay safe and strong! And I thank all of you for keeping us informed.
I just tried calling Rebecca on her CWJ and Digicell cell phones and, for laughs, the land line.
Land line gave a busy signal, digicell rang a few times and then went dead (yesterday it gave some 'circuits are busy' message'), and CWJ call I was able to leave a voice mail.
Sounds like they're able to call out but not have us call in. I'll have to wait until Rebecca calls to give more updates from here.
A million thanks to all who are leaving information here. In addition to the hundreds of people coming to this site for info, its providing some to me as well, so I'm grateful.
When info about Souhtfield and other parts of St Bess come in, I'm trying to post it to Jamaicans.com to spread the word.
Thank you for the update.
